From the University of Waterloo, I traveled 6,781km south to La Paz, Bolivia for an 8-months Student Without Borders placement with ASARBOLSEM (Asociacion Artesanal Boliviana "Señor De Mayo"). For over 30 years, this Fair Trade textile and handicraft organization has been working to advance gender equality, economic empowerment, cultural preservation, and ethical business practices. As a fourth-year International Development and Business student and a Fair Trade advocate, it is an absolute dream come true to meet the humans behind the scenes and listen to their world-changing stories. I am ecstatic to be assisting in expanding their visibility, documenting their impact stories, and doing everything in between as a Business and Marketing Officer.
