I am in my fourth and final year of studying International Development at the University of Waterloo. Only this year, things are looking a little different! Rather than taking classes, cramming for tests and writing essays, I am in Tamale, Ghana, volunteering for a local NGO called RAINS (Regional Advisory Information and Network Systems). RAINS’ focus is on women and youth; they work to ensure that rural communities in Northern Ghana receive both quality education and employment opportunities. I am currently their Communications Officer, which means that my job is to communicate all of the work they do to an external audience.
